Business Owners Policy coverage for what you've built.
A BOP bundles general liability, commercial property, and business interruption into one policy — usually cheaper than buying each separately. It's the right starting point for most small businesses, from contractors and retail to restaurants and professional services.
What a good policy actually does.
The worst time to find out your BOP is wrong is after a fire, a slip-and-fall, or a bad Google review turning into a lawsuit. We size your liability limits to your actual exposure, check that your property limit includes replacement cost (not depreciation), and add business interruption so a bad week doesn't become a closed business.
What's typically covered
- General liability (bodily injury, property damage)
- Commercial property (building + contents)
- Business interruption / loss of income
- Equipment breakdown
- Electronic data / cyber add-on
- Hired + non-owned auto
- Products & completed operations
- Employment practices add-on
Questions about business owners (bop) insurance.
Is a BOP the same as general liability? +
A BOP includes general liability — plus commercial property and business interruption. If you own equipment, rent or own your building, or have inventory, a BOP is usually a better fit than standalone GL.
Does a BOP cover workers' compensation? +
No — workers' comp is a separate policy, and in Michigan it's required once you hit certain thresholds. We can quote it alongside your BOP.
What if I use my personal vehicle for work? +
Your personal auto policy usually excludes business use beyond basic commuting. A BOP can add hired and non-owned auto liability, but if you're driving a lot for work, you may need a commercial auto policy too.
How much coverage do I need? +
It depends on revenue, industry, contracts you sign, and what you own. We'll walk through it together — most small businesses land somewhere between $1M and $2M in general liability, but it's not one-size-fits-all.
